People tend to easily form their own perceptions, leading them to become distracted with their individual perspectives. In the context of teamwork, when each member is only connected through conversation but does not touch upon a shared understanding, what occurs is a movement with their own meanings. And this becomes one of the symptoms causing a team to no longer be high-performing.

The quality of communication is influenced by various factors, including a person's incapacity to listen and an individual's reluctance to ask questions, often stemming from having pre-existing perceptions. 

Listening skills become a problem because what is needed is not just hearing words but also understanding the behaviors of the speaker without give meaning. As one assigns meaning, they are not truly understanding what the speaker intends
